Frequently Asked Questions about Camp

What should my Scout wear each day?

Each day Scouts should wear the official camp tee shirt provided on the first day of camp. As for footwear, all persons at camp should wear comfortable shoes to do lots of walking, but per BSA policy no one may wear open-toe shoes, sandals, flip flops, or crocs.

What kinds of items should I bring each day?

Each person (Scout or leader) should bring raingear, sunscreen, bug spray, and water bottle. Scouts should also bring a small day pack, swimwear, towel, and an extra change of clothes.

Where do I park at camp?

Drive up the gravel road into camp and park in one of the lots as directed by our Boy Scout service patrol. (Lots fill closest to the dining hall first.) Handicapped parking is available by the dining hall, but please do not drive around the barrier to get there unless you have permission. Sppeding on camp roads is not safe for our arriving/departing participants and WILL NOT be tolerated. It may even cost you a ticket from the Indiana State Police!

What if my son has to leave early?

If someone different than the parent(s) listed on the day camp application is picking up a child, that person must have a photo ID and he or she must be listed as an acceptable person to do so on the camp's early release form that you will need to have filled out. In the case of any early departure, always check out with camp staff so we know your child has left.

I have a son who'll be a Tiger this fall. Can he come to Day Camp?

Yes, if he's registered with the BSA by the time camp starts, but he must be accompanied by his parent or adult guardian each day.

What kinds of advancements will my son earn?

Scouts of all ranks can earn a variety of belt loops and pins, including those for Archery and BB Shooting. Webelos can also earn a number of activity badges.
